[Improvement Case] All Cardboard Packaging for Self-Driving RC Powered Sprayer

Reduction of packaging material CO2 emissions by 37% and transportation CO2 emissions by 30%! Introduction of examples that have had an impact on four items within the SDGs.

Conventional packaging uses wood, which requires fumigation treatment for quarantine during export, and also necessitates disposal as waste. By switching from wooden pallets to all-cardboard packaging using reinforced cardboard "Naviace," we maintain strength while reducing CO2 emissions from packaging materials. The frame allows for stacking, improving transportation and storage efficiency, which further reduces CO2 emissions. Additionally, we have achieved a reduction in packaging materials and simplified operations, resulting in positive effects on four of the SDGs. 【Before Improvement, We Faced These Issues】 ■ The use of wood necessitated fumigation treatment, and at the destination, it required disposal as industrial waste. ■ Due to the simple packaging, stacking was not possible, and only flat stacking could be done for storage and transportation. ■ Parts were packaged separately and sent together, posing a risk of damage or loss of the separate packaging boxes during overseas transport. *For the effects and benefits after improvement, please refer to the PDF available for download.

Reinforced cardboard "Naviace" all-cardboard packaging for upright pianos.

Ideal for large heavy items, reinforced cardboard "Naviace" fully utilizes compression strength and cushioning performance, achieving complete cardboard packaging for a 300kg piano.

By using Naviace Co., Ltd.'s reinforced cardboard "Naviace," you can be freed from using wooden pallets! For example, we can package items like this: a "piano." We received requests from instrument manufacturers saying, "Since other companies couldn't do it, we would like to ask you to do it." After several years of testing and verification, we achieved all-cardboard packaging for pianos. 【Packaging Design Conditions】 ■ Weight per unit: 300kg ■ Delicate painted surface, no contact allowed ■ Storage: stackable up to 3 layers ■ Equipped with casters, partial load Due to these characteristics, all-cardboard packaging was considered impossible. However, we cleared these issues with packaging design utilizing our "Naviace"! 【Results】 ■ Reduction in packaging material weight ■ Reduction in the number of parts ■ Reduction in workforce ■ Improvement in recyclability ■ Reduction in material costs ■ Reduction in total logistics costs By adopting the cardboard pallet "Navi Palette," we achieved a significant reduction in total logistics costs. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Introduction of packaging improvement case using Naviace (Maruyama Manufacturing Co., Ltd.)

[Presenting case study materials] From wooden packaging to all cardboard packaging. Achieving efficiency through stacking and reduction of packaging materials!

We would like to introduce a case study of packaging improvement using reinforced cardboard "Naviace." Maruyama Manufacturing Co., Ltd. is a manufacturer primarily engaged in the production and sale of power sprayers. When exporting their "self-propelled remote-controlled power sprayer" to South Korea, we proposed packaging that allows for overseas transportation and contributes to efficiency and the achievement of SDGs. [Challenges] × The use of wood required fumigation treatment and disposal of industrial waste at the destination. × The domestic packaging was simple, making stacking impossible. × Separate packaging of accessory parts posed risks of damage and loss during transportation. In response, we proposed "all cardboard packaging." [Improvements] ◎ Eliminated wood by using a Navi-pallet with laminated materials to support products weighing 160 kg with wheels. ◎ Achieved high-efficiency loading with strength capable of withstanding three layers of stacking. ◎ Innovated the shape for product fixation, reducing packaging materials by placing parts in dividers. ◎ Enabled fixation with a laminated wheel stopper, improving efficiency. As a result of this initiative, we received the Large and Heavy Goods Packaging Award at the "Japan Packaging Contest 2020." *For more details, please refer to the materials. We are also offering a "case study collection" that introduces other improvement examples.

[Packaging Materials] Proposals for reducing environmental impact CO2 while increasing productivity.

With all packaging made of cardboard, we propose to reduce environmental impact and CO2 emissions while increasing productivity! Do you think that SDGs and costs are in conflict with each other?

Many people believe that "eco-friendly products are expensive." In reality, there is a tendency for this to be true. As a result, even when trying to engage in efforts to reduce environmental impact and achieve the SDGs, it can often be difficult to proceed as planned, leaving one unsure of what to do. With our all-cardboard packaging (cardboard pallets, heavy goods packaging, collective packaging, functional packaging), we can offer benefits beyond just the environment, including: - "Reduction of CO2 emissions (achievement of SDGs goals)" - "Increased productivity" - "Improved logistics efficiency" **Examples:** - 90% reduction in CO2 emissions - 30% reduction in logistics costs due to improved transport efficiency - 30% reduction in packaging time due to increased work efficiency - 30% reduction in labor costs due to increased production efficiency *Note: The current packaging materials used may vary by customer, so this cannot be generalized.* **Other Benefits:** - Packaging can be done by anyone (including women and the elderly) - Easier unpacking during recalls or re-inspections - Company logos can be printed, enhancing advertising effectiveness and brand image - If shipping labels are printed, there is no need to apply them separately Since it is completely custom-made, we will design it according to the customer's usage conditions and requirements.

500kg large motor all cardboard packaging (with navigation pallet)

Introducing a packaging improvement case using reinforced cardboard "Navi Ace" and cardboard pallets "Navi Palette" ★ 64% reduction in CO2 emissions ★

Our company has a wealth of experience in environmental proposals! 【What we consider to be the promotion of carbon neutrality】 1. Using materials with low life cycle assessment (LCA) for carbon dioxide emissions in packaging materials 2. Reducing the mass of packaging 3. Minimizing the volume of packaging 【Environmental characteristics of Navias】 ◆ Compared to wood, plastic, and metal, it emits less CO2 from production to disposal (recycling) ◆ The material is lightweight, resulting in lower CO2 emissions during transportation ◆ Easy to design and process, allowing for improved logistics efficiency through reduced volume, which can decrease CO2 emissions → Thus, it can be said that it is an environmentally friendly material due to its material properties. 【The relationship between carbon neutrality and total logistics cost reduction】 Navias' efforts to reduce environmental impact can also lead to cost reductions. ★ Reducing material weight directly contributes to lower material costs ★ Improving logistics efficiency leads to reductions in shipping costs and packaging labor costs → For these reasons, "carbon neutrality can achieve total logistics cost reduction"!! If you would like to know more details, we would appreciate it if you could download our materials.
